What the Course Covered
The IFC Firestop 204 course was designed for special inspectors responsible for inspecting firestop installations in accordance with IBC Chapter 17 and NFPA 1.
The course included instructional modules covering:
- Fire-resistive joint systems
- Expansion joints
- Perimeter fire containment
- Penetration firestop systems
Course material also covered product identification, installation methods, manufacturer variations, and incorrect applications.
Instructional modules included material from manufacturers including Hilti, Inpro, Owens Corning (Thermafiber), and 3M.
How the Videos Were Filmed
Sessions were recorded in full rather than divided into short scripted segments.
One camera remained focused on the presenter while the second camera captured alternate angles, product materials, and close-up demonstration footage. Wireless lav microphones were used throughout production for presenter audio.
Because the course focused on installation methods and inspection detail, close-up coverage was important for clearly showing materials, assemblies, and application examples.
Two-Room Filming Workflow
Portions of production moved between two rooms during the seminar schedule.
While one presenter was recording, the next presenter prepared separately. This reduced downtime between sessions and helped keep production moving throughout filming.
The workflow also helped maintain transitions between presentation materials, demonstrations, and manufacturer presentations.
Final Deliverables
The final delivery included 10 edited training videos featuring:
- Full session coverage
- Integrated presentation materials
- Supporting images provided for the course
- Company branding
Client Feedback
“A not-for-profit organization that I'm involved with hired Leon [Owner] from Lasting Blueprint Productions to film and produce an extensive video training project. He was a delight to work with—very competent and professional at every step. Despite some unforeseen complications, Leon remained flexible, cool, and calm throughout the process. We will definitely be hiring Lasting Blueprint again for any future video work.”
Final Outcome
The completed videos were incorporated into the IFC Firestop 204 online curriculum for inspectors and industry professionals.
